Emma Rose's Fourth Birthday

Emma Rose is officially four. I still can't believe it even though she's growing up right before our eyes. She's becoming such a pretty little girl and is no longer a toddler. It's bittersweet.

The birthday party and all the preparation was great fun for her. The day before her birthday party, we made her cake. It was a chocolate cake together. She wanted an ice cream cake, so I softened some vanilla ice cream (the lactose free kind, so I could have a piece, too) and froze it in the shape of the cake. The ice cream was the middle layer. I was a little nervous, but it worked. John loved it so much that he had three John-sized pieces on the day of the party.

On the day of the party, she choose her own party dress, and it was, of course, purple. We had burgers, chips, the most awesome potato salad, and baked beans. More importantly, our friends and family were here to celebrate Emma Rose's birthday with us. She loves having company! She also really likes cake, balloons, and gifts. It was a great combination.

I took many, many pictures: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8QYs3Ldo5at3K.
