Fun Times

This weekend, the girls had a very eventful Saturday. My mom, aka Cricket, brought over a turtle she found in her back yard. Emma Rose fed him some of my basil from the yard and some lettuce from the refrigerator. Cricket and Emma Rose put him in a box and gave him a bowl of water. She named him Barbie and begged me to keep him, but Cricket took him back to her house. He is safely back in her backyard.
We went over to Chris and Beth's house for a cook-out Saturday night. The girls had a fabulous time! They played in the playhouse, on the slide, in the little car (made for one child), fussed over a chair, and ate a lot of sweets. Anabelle took her Pie. Grayson has a pink bear that is now her Pie. She had it Monday night and was carrying it just like Anabelle carries Pie. How cute! Emma Rose and Anabelle came home tired, dirty, and ready for bed, all of which are evidence of a fun times.

Spa Night

Last night, we had spa night with the girls. It's our fancy way of getting them to let us trim their nails. Then they get to choose nail polish and we polish their finger nails and toe nails. Up until last night, spa night has only been with Emma Rose. We've tried to have spa night with Anabelle a few months ago, but it didn't work. She wouldn't keep her hands and feet still during the polishing!

They both have pink toe nails and finger nails! Once I was done painting Emma Rose's nails, she helped Anabelle stay still. When Anabelle's nails were all done, she held up her hands and said "Boo-ful!" They had a very fun spa night!

The Pink Hat and Painting

Emma Rose has discovered my pink hat. It's a children's hat, so it fits her pretty well. (Mommy has a pea head.) She looks so cute in the pink hat, and she's even shared with Hobie.

A few weeks ago, I went to grocery store, and the girls stayed at home with Daddy. Daddy let them paint! They enjoyed themselves, and Anabelle was a naked baby. I think Anabelle started licking the paint brushes shortly after this picture were taken.

Jessica Gave Us Cupcakes!

Jessica, our neighbor, brought over cupcakes last week. The girls and John were very happy with the thoughtful gift. I bet you can guess what was on them!! (The photos are compliments of John.)

Visit with Baby Anna

Last weekend, our neighbors, Keith and Liz, went to dinner to celebrate Keith's birthday. While they were away, we had Baby Anna!

Our first adventure was outside with Emma Rose's power wheel's four-wheeler. Anna loved riding it, but she didn't understand how to stop or turn. Dawn's car and our flower bed helped out with the stopping a couple of times. Then we had homemade juice popsicles. Once we removed the layer of sticky from the girls, we all came inside to watch Horton Hears a Who. There was a some watching and a lot of playing going on during the movie. Anna was a delight, and Emma Rose and Anabelle had a great time.

Taking Turns

Last Thursday, Harrison, our 4 year old neighbor from across the street, came over to ride Emma Rose's power wheels four-wheeler. He ended up giving each of the girls rides in the front yard. They had so much fun! When Anabelle had her turn, Harrison would stop the four-wheeler everytime she would let go of his shoulders. He was very careful that she wouldn't get hurt.

Emma Rose Funnies

Emma Rose still sucks her thumb at night when she goes to bed. It's a hard habit to break. She also sticks her index finger in her nostril during said thumb-sucking. She told me the other night: "Sometimes, when I wake up, I have a crusty mustache on my lip." Indeed.

When she was eating chocolate chip bunnies:
Bunny: Emma Roooose
Emma Rose: Where are you, bunny?
Bunny: In your belly.
Emma Rose: (Bunny inserted into mouth.)
Emma Rose: "Thank you, Mommy. This is so lovely."

Independence Day Activities

On the July 4th, we had a great day! We barbecued with our neighbors, and John and Dewayne put on a fire works show for the neighborhood. John choose an empty lot across the street from our house. He mowed it and watered it, so it would be unlikely to catch fire. Our neighbors brought chairs for our front yard! John and Dewayne started out with some "distraction" fire crackers in the street. Then, they moved to the empty lot.

It started out great. Then, one of the canisters tipped over and shot the fire cracker to the right of the crowd. All the kids shouted in awe and the parents moved over to the left. John and Dewayne continued to light them, and it was more fun watching them run from possible explosions than seeing the fireworks in the sky.

John also bought sparklers for the kids, and Emma Rose enjoyed her first Fourth of July sparkler. My pictures of that momentous event would have been great, but they were all out of focus! It was a great night!

Pre-Independence Day Activities

Our holiday weekend started out with a long day at the pool and then grilling out with our friends. It was extra special because my mom, my brother, and his wife were able to be here with us, too. The grand finale was a preview of the next night's fire works show.
(Picture 1) Little Anna wanted to ride Emma Rose's tricycle, so she found a helment in Dewayne's garage. (Picture 2) Emma Rose and Alaura were hanging out watching John get ready to light fire crackers. (Picture 3) Aaron and some of the other kids running through the smoke bombs. (Picture 4) All the kids running toward John after the fire crackers are all done. (Picture 5) Gracie is trying on hearing protection. (Picture 6) Anabelle is trying on hearing protection.
